Our fraternities are called to be ‘spiritual oases‘ where today’s men and women may find again a new relationship with God and, consequently, also with their brothers. Whoever comes to ‘Betania’ does not come as a spectator because the Fraternity opens its doors to all those that wish to experience our lifestyle.
This manifests itself in the charism of the Fraternità Francescana di Betania (Franciscan Fraternity of Bethany), that finds its expression in prayer and hospitality, distinctive elements of the Bethany of the Gospels, carried on in the context of a deeply brotherly life, typical of the Franciscan experience.
The charism, a gift of the Holy Spirit to the Church, represents a special way to live the Gospel in our daily life, guided by the evangelic icon of Bethany, by the simplicity of St. Francis of Assisi and by the light of the Blessed Virgin Mary – foundations of our Marian-Franciscan spirituality.
Also undeniable in our experience is the role of St. Pio of Pietrelcina, our example for a life of prayer, heroic pursue of virtues, spirit of sacrifice and commitment to the priestly ministry and imitation of crucified Christ.
Another important reference in the spirituality of our fraternity is St. Joseph. As God entrusted his son and his Holy Mother to the care of St. Joseph, we likewise rely on him as our patron saint and protector. As the guardian of the Holy Family, he is for us a model of humility in the pursue of our duties.
