The project aims to set up a welcome centre and refuge for children and adolescents who are in great need or situations of distress.

DSCN1763The intention is to offer a service that is a Gospel light, in the spirit of Betania, able to offer security to young people and personal development with a spiritual dimension, enabling these people to exercise their own rights to life, to health, to food, to education, to sport, to entertainment, to professional opportunities, to cultural, to dignity, to respect, to freedom, to a sense of family community and commonality.

Such plans require the fulfilling of the following structural plans: 

The Religious House; this constitutes: 40 rooms (areas for men, women and guests), a private chapel, communal areas, technological outlets.
The Church, extendable and with an outdoor large square for big gatherings.
The Pastoral Centre for evangelization meetings.



The Oratory – a sports camp: A place for initial meetings. Communal areas including: common rooms, hygiene services, showers, personal cooking areas, canteens, a sporting facility which allows for football, areas reserved for motor sports.
Family homes: 8 to 10 family homes composed of foster mother and father (just a foster mother if appropriate) and 8 to 10 minors in foster care, in a enclosed village area.
College: considering the low rate of minors in compulsory education, the high rate of minors with family problems and the distance from the village, we offer a centre consistent with the cultural model in El Salvador for about 80 minors divided by gender, who will staCIMG4799y five days a week during school year under the educators’ guidance. The building will include: 2 dormitories, a kitchen, a canteen and communal areas.
Day Centre: an organizational structure coordinating the following activities: an oratory and sports
centre, a pastoral centre, a kindergarten and schools.
Emergency Assistance Centre for minors and parents, if necessary. It’s a structure offering 15-20 beds, divided into male/female areas.
Advice Point at the Favela: small permanent position for volunteers offering counselling and guidance.

An infirmary with first aid services: self-contained areas where doctors can work, as well as outpatients department facilities for specialised services such as paediatric work, dentists, opticians, orthopaedic experts and the like, as well as specific paediatric hospital facilities.


DSCN1470Kindergarten (0-4 year-olds). Structure in accordance with laws in force for 50 to 60 children with educators. Kindergartens outside the village are likely to be in opened in the future.
Nursery school (5-6 year-olds). Structure for 80 children and teachers, corresponding with Italian nursery schools, which provide initial literacy skills. Includes a canteen.
Primary (compulsory) school (6-7 year-olds). Brazilian school regulations provide 8 years of primary compulsory education within the same college. The first 4 years provide only one teacher, the fifth year more teachers, the last years provide the same model as in the Italian “Scuola media”.
The initial project will be set up with a class for 40 to 50 children. Includes a canteen.
Literacy skills school. Structure for adolescents and adults providing two classrooms for daytime and evening courses.
Secondary school. Structure in accordance with laws in force.
Students’ home. A residential home for secondary school and university students.

Professional training schools: Structure for about 150 adolescents and adults, providing skilled workshops for 10 to 15 posts, according to local needs. Training workshops: structure to help enter the business world.
